From this video, the Targa Newfoundland rally looks quite fun and intense too. Seven days of cruising through Newfoundland looks like it's both a blast and very exhausting too. If you'd like to have a go at it the dates for 2009 are September 12th through the 19th. Jump here for more info. Cheers. [video source - YouTube]

Gallardo Super Trofeo rocks the Vallelunga Race Track outside Rome
The all new Gallardo Super Trofeo showed some impressive performance on the Vallelunga Race Track outside Rome. Lamborghini test driver Giorgio Sanna behind the wheel put it through its paces. The slicks cannot be changed during a 40 minute race so it was a good chance to see how they would hold up. The first race of the world’s fastest single-brand competition is set to be run on 2 May 2009 at Silverstone. The team was feeling good about the tuning, car, and the tires. “We are well within our schedule, and will continue to push things forward,” says Manfred Fitzgerald, who is Director of Brand and Design for Lamborghini and responsible for the Super Trofeo. “Ultimately, we want to provide our teams with a race car that is not only fast, but also perfectly reliable.” Starting in May, the Super Trofeo will make guest appearances at six race events – at Silverstone (UK), on the Adria Raceway (Italy), on the Norisring (Germany), in Spa (Belgium), in Barcelona (Spain) and on Paul Ricard racetrack (France). Here's more info about this amazing car. The Super Trofeo race car is based on the Gallardo LP 560-4, powered by the new 5.2 litre V10 with direct fuel injection (IDS), generating an increased output of 419 kW (570 hp). Its power flows through the e.gear six-speed robotized gear box to the permanent all-wheel drive with viscous traction – the kind of power transmission perfectly suited to motorsport.
The Super Trofeo is a top-class race car in every detail. Its chassis, featuring double wishbone suspension all round, has been reworked specifically for the purpose. The competition tyres are supplied by Pirelli and a specialist racing brake system provides brutal stopping power with racing ABS. Additional body components such as the large, adjustable rear wing are made from carbon-fibre composite. The cockpit incorporates an ultra-light race seat, a racing steering wheel and additional specialized racing instruments.
See you at the track. ;) Cheers. [source - Lamborghini]

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder
So, if the coupe LP560-4 doesn't do it for you then perhaps you should consider the all new topless version. It was just debuted at the LA auto show and looks rather nice. You will certainly enjoy the roar of its V-10 propelling you from 0 - 60 mph in a mere 4 seconds. The wind should move your hair a bit too at the lovely top speed of 201 mph. It is much like its coupe brother but much more open shall we say. The MSRP is a mere $221,000 USD. Apparently, 930 Lambos were sold in the US last year, and 2,406 total worldwide. Don't supercars just make you feel like a kid again?! Ciao.Share on Facebook

Evo versus Murcielago on Top Gear
So, the Evo doesn't sound like the most luxurious or comfortable ride but...well I won't spoil the fun for you. Check this out - http://www.topgear.com/us/videos/more/evo-vs-lambo-part-1 . Oh, and if you liked that try part 2 . Cheers.

The Cannonball 8000 is kaput!
It appears that the Cannonball 8000 is in utter financial ruin. I was actually thinking about trying it next year, or the year after too... Some unfortunate folks had already paid for the rally too. Will they get their money back? Cheers.

Seattle Auto Show - 2008

The Seattle Auto Show was pretty cool. There was a wide variety of cars and trucks there including: exotics, green, commuters, and concepts even. Speaking of concepts, the Camaro "bumble bee" car from the Transformers movie was there and looked pretty hot! Porsche had a GT2 there and a smattering of other delicious cars. Ferrari brought out the lovely 430 Scuderia to drool on, or close to at least. Scion probably had the coolest booth with three cars up in these loft like containers. Subaru showed off their new STI street-legal rally car. I don't really care for the 5 door approach but apparently that's what the World Rally Car series demanded. Suburu also had a very cool rally car simulator, that I highly recommend. I tried it myself and it was quite fun to challenge oneself with car control mayhem while going quite fast in a rally car. Lamborghini had the new Gallardo LP 560-4 there in a beautiful white and I promptly put that on my Christmas list, but alas I must work on my investing skills more first. There were many more cool automobiles there as well. Here's a link to my photos. If you get the chance to go I think you'll enjoy it and many of the cars are open to sit in as well. Cheers.

2008 Formula 1 final race

It seemed like the race went mostly as people expected with a couple surprises. In lap 1, two drivers were taken out by a driver bumping into the back of a driver who planned to retire after this race. Although the track was a bit wet in the beginning of the race the weather held at least until there were 5 laps left. Then things became a bit interesting. Kubica pulled off a nice pass and fans were anxiously watching every move to see if Hamilton would indeed become the champion. Massa had a great performance and won the race. However, given Hamilton's performance over the year he won the championship. I was impressed that he remained composed and strategically held onto his lead for the championship. http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/f1-thrilling-finish-crowns-hamilton-champion-at-interlagos/ has a good detailed recap too. Cheers.
