FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DU CANADA 2008 (Montreal)

Formula 1 is coming to Canada June 6th - 8th. For those of us in the Northwest, it'll be on Fox tv at 10 am (according to Yahoo tv listings). 70 laps at this beautiful location in Montreal. R. Barrichello holds the lap record of 1:13.622. Dario Franchitti appears to hold the record for an average speed of 108.648 mph (source). Not too shabby guys. Let's see if someone bests them next Sunday!

Koenigsegg CCXR Edition

The Koenigsegg CCXR Edition was unveiled earlier this year at the Geneva International Motor Show. It not only sports sleek styling and amazing performance. It also has a green side too. Fuel sources can be environmentally friendly ethanol E85 and E100 fuels, as well as regular petrol.

Tree hugger facts aside, it packs quite a punch.
Performance
Acceleration:
0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) 2.9 seconds

0-200 km/h 8.75 sec.
0-200-0 km/h 13.55 sec.

Top Speed: 410+ km/h (254+ mph) (estimated)
Braking distance: 32m (100-0 km/h)
Lateral G-force: 1.5 G
Fuel consumption: Highway travel: 18 l/100 km (E85 fuel), Combined: 22 l/100km (E85)
Weight-to-power ratio: 1.26 kg/hp
Weight distribution: 45% front, 55% rear

Aerodynamics
Cd. 0,36 Frontal area 1.867 m2
Total Downforce over 250 km/h: 350 kg
Flat underside of chassis. Venturi tunnels at rear of chassis/body

With the improved downforce from the rear spoiler, it should even make The Stig from Top Gear giddy with joy. Not sure what the pricing is on this beast of wonder but maybe you can trade a few million Swedish fish for one of these.

Here's a flashback to a Top Gear episode with the CCX minus the spoiler. See what happens when The Stig has a go on the track. Top Gear: Koenigsegg CCX

Are rides in rally cars really this terrifying?

I always thought it would be a blast to ride along in a rally car. Apparently some people don't feel the same way. Check out this video from MySpace for the dirt.

Porsche Car Show (at XXX Root Beer)

We went to a great car show on the other day. There were the hot newer cars like the 911 Turbo and the 911 GT3 and there were also cool old classics like the 356, Carrera, and Porsche 60 (?). Click this car to see some photos from the show - IMG_0035

Test drive of the 2008 BMW M3

Wow! It is indeed an amazing car. It has tons of power (414hp to be exact) and handles nicely too. Here's a photo of the beautiful beast. I'll get another chance to drive it at the Ultimate Drive fund raiser so maybe I'll be more wordy then :)
